Work Experience

 

Program Manager, Microsoft (Redmond, WA)                                                                            2001 – 2003

Designed, managed, and shipped key features for four major Windows Mobile releases.

  • Designed E-mail, text messaging (SMS), and Multimedia Messaging Service (MMS) features for Smartphone and Pocket PC OS.  Developed use cases, created UI prototypes, planned usability studies, analyzed technical requirements, and delivered functional specifications.
  • Initiated the MMS project, labeled “top priority” by partners T-Mobile, Orange, Vodafone, O2, and Verizon Wireless for the successful launch of Windows Mobile devices.
  • Managed the MMS project on an aggressive 8-month schedule.  Conducted customer visits in Europe and North America, researched industry standards (3GPP/OMA), devised the project schedule,  outsourced 15+ development/test resources to a vendor in India, tracked and triaged bugs, and coordinated release schedules with partners.

Established processes, metrics and tests to dramatically improve Windows GDI+ 1.0 performance.

  • Led team to improve relevant GDI+ performance in Office XP to be equivalent or faster than GDI performance in Office 2000.

Software Design Intern, Heiler Software (Stuttgart, Germany)                                                      1999

Developed software for HighCommerce, an online store development platform.

  • Designed and implemented website statistic display and calculation modules using Visual Basic.

 

Software Design Engineer Intern, Softimage (Montreal, PQ)                                                         1999

Designed and developed software for Digital Studio, a turnkey solution for TV/video editing.

  • Implemented audio DSP algorithms (parametric EQ, compressor, gate, etc) using C++.
  • Designed the UI for video resolution management, and implemented using MFC / COM.

 

Software Engineer Intern, Electronic Arts Canada (Burnaby, BC)                              1997 – 1998

Developed core features for the best-selling Triple Play baseball game series on PC and Playstation.

  • Researched and implemented 3D positional sound using DirectSound 3D.
